17th Annual Certification Schools

CUIRE at the University of Texas at Arlington will hold its 17th annual Pipeline and Trenchless Technology Training and Certification Schools in conjunction with the Underground Construction Technology (UCT) International Conference & Exhibition. This year’s program includes Advanced HDD School, Geotechnical School, Pipe School as well as ½ day of Pipe Lining and Renewal School and Microtunneling and Pilot Tube School. Attendees may register for any of the following ½ Schools.

Monday, Jan 28, 2019, 8:00 AM – Noon

  • School A – Advanced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) School (Part One) – Planning and design of large, mid- and small-size HDD projects from inception to closeout and delivery. The school will include talks on pipe loads, bore planning, drilling fluids and case studies.
  • School B – Geotechnical School (Part One) – Geotechnical requirements for both trenchless and open-cut applications, soft soils and rock investigations methods, and how ground conditions will affect trenchless feasibility and productivity.
  • School C – Pipe School (Part One) – This school will cover applications, capabilities, manufacturing, standards, advantages and limitations of steel, ductile iron, vitrified clay, concrete and new developments in these pipe materials and joining systems.

Monday, Jan 29, 2019, 1:00 – 5:00 PM

  • School D – Advanced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) School (Part Two) – The second part of this school will include construction projects of all sizes, plus tracking, locating and case studies.
  • School E – Geotechnical School (Part Two) – Planning, geotechnical reporting, and contracting requirements for trenchless technologies for different ground conditions.
  • School F – Pipe School (Part Two) – This second part of this School will cover applications, capabilities, manufacturing, standards, advantages and limitations of PVC, HDPE, fiberglass, and new developments in these pipe materials and joining systems.

Tuesday, Jan 29, 2019, 8:00 AM – Noon

  • School G – Microtunneling and Pilot Tube School – This school will cover planning, design and construction of Microtunneling Methods (MT) and Pilot Tube and Other Guided Boring Methods (PTGBM), and will includes case studies. A discussion of new ASCE Microtunneling Standards and Manual of Practice on PTGBM will be presented by authors.
  • School H – Pipe Lining and Renewal School – This school will cover pipe lining methods including Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP), sliplining, modified sliplining (panel lining), close-fit, Spray-in-Place Pipe (SIPP) and other methods. This school will also cover planning, design, construction, inspection and QA/QC.

NOTE: Register early – There is a maximum limit of 25 attendees for each school!

Who should attend? Public officials, engineers, utility company personnel, designers, utility owners and operators, and contractors who are involved with constructing, renewing, and managing utilities. CUIRE Schools are organized by the Center for Underground Infrastructure Research & Education (CUIRE), Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Texas at Arlington; and cosponsored by Underground Construction Magazine.

Registration Particulars: Pay with check or credit card (Visa, Master Card, Amex, and Discover). Register early: Registration is limited to first 40 people on a first time, first-serve bases.

On-site (walk-in) registrations are welcome based on space availability only.

Learn from Experts Program© The schools will be taught by CUIRE Board Members and Friends who have many years of experience in the area of their teaching.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with the program, let us know at 817-272-9177 or cuire@uta.edu know within one week of the program, and we will set things right with you! Certificate & Professional Development Hours: These Schools qualify for up to 1.2 Professional Development Hours (PDH) of continuing education credit. A PDH certificate indicating inspector training will be awarded at the conclusion of the School. The wallet-size certificate will be mailed shortly after completion of the School.
