Gloria Maceko Featured Speaker at 2004 Summer Commencement

Gloria Maceiko, who received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from UTA in 1982, will be the featured speaker at the College of Engineering's summer commencement ceremonies set for Saturday, August 14.

Ms. Maceiko has been an executive in high tech industries for 20 years. After graduating, she started her engineering career with such companies as AT&T and Intecom here in Texas. She then moved to the Silicon Valley area of California where, for the past 15 years, she has been involved in sales and business development.

During her career, Ms. Maceiko has held senior positions with AT&T, Packetstream, Unimobile/EFI, Gearworks and F-Origin. In these positions, she created sales and business development strategies, partnership programs and channel sales that achieved more than $400 million in revenue. She also built and managed staff groups of more than 100 people and was a part of the successful merger and funding of many of the companies for which she worked.

Ms. Maceiko is currently the Vice President of Business Development and Sales for U.S. operations at F-Origin, which develops wireless software that enables a PDA to become a full capacity laptop, mobile phone and Internet browser.

In addition to here official duties, Ms. Maceiko also participates in mentoring and managing international businesses, advising technology companies in Finland and many Asian countries on how to expand their operations in United States. She is the recipient of many distinguished awards, including the YWCA's Tribute to Women in Industry award, which recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to their companies and the economic and social growth of the community.
