UTA Engineering Professor Named Fellow of ASME

November 22, 2002

Dr. Seung-Mun You, a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Fellow is the highest elected grade of membership within the ASME, the attainment of which recognizes exceptional engineering achievements and contributions to the engineering profession.

Dr. You has extensive research experience in the areas of experimental thermal science and heat transfer. His research contributions are related to high-heat-flux heat transfer phenomena with phase-changes in microscale structures. Dr. You has made significant contributions to understanding and enhancing nucleate boiling heat transfer and critical heat flux. He has also applied fundamental findings to thermal management of high-power microelectronics using liquid cooling techniques.

You holds a U.S. patent on a novel Microporous, Boiling Heat Transfer Enhancement Coating and also invented a Two-Phase Metal Alloy System for Thermal Interface Materials. He has authored approximately 90 technical papers for journals and conferences.
