Civil engineering students have a new resource for finding help in mathematics and fundamental engineering courses.
The Civil Engineering Learning Center (CELC) will be directed by Mostafa Ghandehari, a senior lecturer in the department, who is an applied mathematician with over 30 years of teaching experience in mathematics and basic engineering courses. He will hold all his office hours in the CELC and assist freshman students with all mathematics and fundamental engineering courses. In addition, the CE Department is requiring senior lecturers and graduate teaching assistants for all the fundamental engineering and civil engineering courses to hold their office hours at the CELC.
"The CELC will foster an interactive learning environment in which students may meet, interact, exchange questions and learn," explained Civil Engineering Chair Ali Abolmaali. "The CELC will undoubtedly have a significant impact on student retention because it will be easy for students to get the help they need in their core courses."
