Paul Quillen, an aerospace engineering doctoral student, will work for the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) this summer as an intern at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque.
“I will support the Guidance, Navigation and Control test system development team. It will be a great opportunity for me and will compliment the work I do in the Aerospace Systems Lab (ASL) at UTA,” Quillen said.
“Paul is a very diligent and hard-working student. I am confident he will excel at his internship and bring back vital “real-world” experience to put to practice during his doctoral studies,” said Quillen’s faculty advisor, Kamesh Subbarao.
Quillen’s Ph.D. research focuses on topics in astronautics, and he currently is working on trajectory optimization for sample return missions to and from cis-lunar space from different destinations such as the Moon, Mars or near-Earth asteroids.
