CE Department Hosts LID Workshop
Friday, May 2, 2014
Nick Fang, an assistant professor in the Civil Engineering Department, led the 2014 Low Impact Development (LID) in North Texas Workshop on May 2. The one-day event covered the theory and practice of low impact development for the North Texas region.
"It is important to have educational outreach pertaining to LID activities, especially in Texas," Fang said. "LID can make an impact on urban flooding and flash floods, increase property values, decrease the amount of contaminants such as fertilizers that reach rivers, lakes and streams, and increase sustainability through rainwater harvesting systems and other tools."
Presenters from the EPA, North Central Texas Council on Governments, and several municipal water departments spoke at the workshop.
