We develop theoretical foundations and applications to enhance the resilience of Construction and Infrastructure systems by leveraging the availability of big data sources along with recent advances in Econometrics/Statistics/Operations Research/Computer Science.
Dr. Shahandashti is an assistant professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He joined UTA after receiving Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology, specializing in Construction and Infrastructure Systems. He also recieved M.S. (Operations Research) from Georgia Institute of Technology, M.S. (Advanced Infrastructure Systems) from Carnegie Mellon University, M.S. (Civil Engineering) from Nanyang Technological Univeristy, and B.S. (Civil Engineering) from Iran University of Science and Technology. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Civil Engineering in Texas and a member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers. He has recieved several awards, including a best paper award in the category of Optimization and Computational Techniques from the International Associations for Automation and Robotics in Construction.
Dr. Shahandashti's present and past research activities have been funded by Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Louisiana Department of Transportation (Louisiana DOT), Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT), City of Arlington, North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), Engineering Information Foundation (EIF), National Science Foundation (NSF), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and Construction Industry Institute (CII).
