School of Social Work/College of Nursing and Health Innovation Smart Hospital Building

Arlington Tomorrow Foundation $1 Million Matching Gift

UTA has been awarded a $1 million matching gift from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation in support of the University’s new School of Social Work/College of Nursing and Health Innovation Smart Hospital Building.

For decades, UTA has worked in partnership with the city of Arlington to create a thriving community for students and city residents, and that partnership continues with this generous gift.

The gift serves as a dollar-for-dollar challenge grant with the goal of inspiring alumni as well as other members of the Maverick community to take part in bringing the state-of-the-art facility to life. Gifts donated in support of the building will be matched by the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation up to $1 million.

About The School of Social Work/College of Nursing and Health Innovation Smart Hospital Building

In 2021, UTA began building the School of Social Work/College of Nursing and Health Innovation Smart Hospital Building, a new facility to unite the University’s celebrated School of Social Work (SSW) under one roof and house the College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s (CONHI) modernized Smart Hospital, a training space that includes mock patient rooms and medical robots. The building opened for the spring 2023 semester.

The 150,000-square-foot facility is a mix of flexible, state-of-the-art, technology-enriched learning spaces; teaching and research labs; student engagement, study, and support spaces; faculty and staff offices; and the Smart Hospital simulation learning center.

This building serves as a new center for interdisciplinary learning, encouraging students of both SSW and CONHI to think outside of their skillsets. By creating an environment where both social work and nursing students can collaborate and innovate, UTA will graduate a new generation of social work and health care professionals uniquely equipped to meet the critical needs of North Texas communities.
