Students enrolled in the UT System Student Health Insurance Plan (UT SHIP) have valuable resources available to them, including access to a broad Participating Provider Option (PPO) Network from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, access to a 24/7 Nurseline, and telehealth and behavioral health services.
Emergency and After Hours
Help is still available if you have a physical or mental health concern outside of normal office hours. The following resources can be used for emergency care and after-hours support.
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
Call 817-272-3003 for medical emergencies on campus. The number is also on emergency decals displayed on campus telephones. Provide dispatchers with the nature of the emergency, the location, and a phone number where you can be called back. Police and an ambulance will respond based on the initial call. UTA Health Services cannot respond to medical emergencies outside of the health center. Police department personnel are trained in CPR and other first aid procedures and will provide stabilization until an ambulance arrives.

AFTER-HOURS CARE FOR STUDENTS WITH UT SHIP
When seeking treatment outside of the student health center, please use the Provider Finder Tool resource from Blue Cross Blue Shield to find in-network doctors and hospitals in your area. Co-payments, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses are applicable when receiving treatment outside of the student health center. Please review the UT SHIP Master Policy for more information.
Academic Blue 24/7 Nurseline: Registered nurses are on call at 1-800-581-0368 to give general health tips and trusted guidance on where to seek care when Health Services is closed. This benefit is only available to students enrolled in UT SHIP.
Students enrolled in UT SHIP also have access to virtual visits through Academic Live Care. Virtual visits provide a live consultation with health care provider for non-emergency medical health needs as well as consultations regarding diet and nutrition. Students can also speak with a licensed mental health professional for support with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma and loss or relationship problems.
