As the entire campus rallies together for an exciting Homecoming weekend, we’re hosting some highly anticipated events just for alumni on campus. Because Homecoming is a time to reconnect with your Maverick spirit, and that means returning to the campus you love. Being with friends you remember fondly. And getting back in touch with the place and the people that helped make you who you are today.

Monday, November 4

Decorate Downtown Begins

READY. SET. DECORATE! UTA student organizations are teaming up with businesses in Downtown Arlington to decorate their storefronts to let everyone know it's Homecoming week! Cast your vote for the most spirited business on the Homecoming Facebook page for the Peoples Choice award. A Judges Choice award will also be announced at the Homecoming basketball game. The deadline to sign up for student organizations to be paired up with a business is Tuesday, October 29. Student Organizations and local Arlington businesses can sign up to participate by filling out the registration forms.

UTA Homecoming Challenge Begins (all week for students)

It’s Homecoming in Maverick Country! Do you think you and your team has what it takes to bring home the win? Join the UTA Homecoming Challenge to see if you’ll come out on top. Points will be awarded to teams who participate and attend events during the week of Homecoming. Gather your team and complete challenges for a chance to take home the first-place trophy! The UTA Ambassadors will be hosting this week-long event to challenge students to get involved throughout the week. Participating is as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Download the GooseChase app and search for “UTA Homecoming Challenge.”
  2. Enter the name of your organization and join the team.
  3. Get the mission list and start playing. The team with the most points will be announced as the winner at the Homecoming game on Saturday, November 9.

Paint Your Ride With Maverick Pride

All UTA students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members are encouraged to drive by this tradition! Freshman Leaders on Campus paint your vehicle windows with Maverick pride that you can show throughout town during Homecoming week.

Creation Donation

8 a.m. - 2 p.m. // The University Center
Want to help UTA fight food insecurity right here on campus? Register your organization for Creation Donation benefiting the UTA Food Pantry. Student organizations will compete against one another to build structures only out of canned food. The structures will be judged based on the number of cans included, adherence to the Homecoming theme, creativity and structural integrity. See you there!

Can you handle the heat? Join the Homecoming crew and the Division of Student Affairs for the annual Chili Cook-Off. Teams will compete to win the ultimate prize of Chili Cook-Off champion, bragging rights, and an awesome trophy. Open to all UTA, students, faculty, staff, and alumni groups.

Movin’ Mavs and Lady Movin’ Mavs Homecoming Wheelchair Basketball Tournament // Physical Education Building and Maverick Activities Center

Top college men's and women's teams from around the U.S. go head-to-head in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association Intercollegiate Division Regional Tournament. The tournament will feature several Paralympians, World Championship players, and USA National Team members. Games will go all day Friday and Saturday and include local team play on Sunday morning.

UTA will host the biggest party in town featuring multi-platinum rapper, Rich the Kid. This event is free and not to be missed. Also performing at The Bash is Dillon Cooper, DJ Junk Food, and UTA’s very own alums, Sam Lao and TEN.

Join UTA Volleyball for Military Appreciation Night as they take on Texas State at College Park Center. All military personnel receive two COMPLIMENTARY tickets to the match. Just show your military ID at the box office for your tickets.

Our annual awards dinner is a night where we recognize distinguished alumni for their individual achievements, contributions to their industries or professions, service to their community, and demonstrated loyalty to UTA. Homecoming Golf Tournament

8 a.m. // Waterchase Golf Club
A four-person golf scramble with fellow Mavericks to kick-off Homecoming day. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, prizes, and 18 holes of golf at Waterchase Golf Club for only $55 per person or $220 per team. Open to UTA alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, and parents. Registration for this event is closed.

Homecoming 5K Walk/Run

Homecoming 5K Run/Walk/Roll

10 a.m. // Maverick Activities Center
Join us for the annual Homecoming 5K Run/Walk/Roll! This year’s Homecoming route is a scenic one throughout the UTA campus. All proceeds will go to the UTA Emergency Assistance Fund. Open to all UTA students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.

School of Social Work Homecoming Pre-Game Party

UTA's School of Social Work (SSW) invites you to the 2019 UTA Homecoming Pre-Game Party. Come dressed in your best UTA gear to show your Mavericks spirit and join us for an amazing time of BBQ, drinks, music, and games. Don't miss out on bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals, and live music! SSW faculty, staff, alumni, graduate students, prospective students, and SSW family and friends are all invited. Alumni Homecoming Game Package

2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. // College Park Center
Join your fellow Mavericks and cheer on the men’s and women’s basketball teams at their games on Saturday, November 9. The women’s game tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., while the men tip-off at 7 p.m. The $20 ticket price includes your ticket to both games in the alumni reserved section, free popcorn, and a $5 contribution to support alumni programs at UTA. Kids 12 and under are $5. The street festival begins at 3 p.m.

Take it to the streets, Maverick style! Celebrate Homecoming at the annual Street Festival, featuring a variety of exciting activities. Get into the Maverick spirit and enjoy fun games, complimentary food and drink, a live DJ, street performers and more!

Come cheer on the Lady Mavericks at College Park Center when they take on Chicago State.

The Shorthorn Centennial Homecoming Alumni Get-Together

3 - 5 p.m. // Student Publications office
Stop by The Shorthorn office Saturday during Homecoming festivities for a get-together to close out our centennial year. Bring your family, mingle with Shorthorn alumni, enjoy some food, and stay for the Homecoming parade and basketball games.

Brazos House Alumni Reunion

4 - 5 p.m. // Brazos Park
Join your fellow Brazooonians for a reception and group photo at Brazos Park! Included in your registration is entry into the Brazos House Alumni Reception; full access to the Party on the Plaza, including 1 free drink ticket, a ticket in the alumni reserved section for both the women's and men's basketball games, and a $5 contribution to support alumni programming at UTA.

*Group photo will be taken at 4:30 p.m. on the stage at Brazos Park.

Join your fellow UTA alumni to celebrate Homecoming with our annual Party on the Plaza! There will be great music, party foods and drinks, and a chance to wear your orange and blue with UTA style and pride! Adult admission is $25 and includes your game ticket, appetizers, and one drink coupon (cash bar available), and a $5 gift to support alumni programming. Tickets for children through age 12 are $10 and include the game, appetizers, and a soft drink. Feel free to come and go to all of the street festival activities and watch the Homecoming parade with the best view from the College Park Center Northwest Deck prior to cheering on the Mavericks at the Homecoming game vs. Tulsa. Recognized groups will include alumni from fraternity and sorority life, spirit groups, and athletics.

5:15 - 6:30 p.m.
This year’s Homecoming Parade starts with a grand production number not to be missed. After that, the parade procession begins. We’ll have big floats, marching bands, special guests, and our traditional decorated golf carts. See if you can spot the car with the biggest display of Maverick spirit! (That’s a trick challenge. It’s going to be one long cavalcade of Mav Mania.) It all winds up with a pep rally in front of College Park Center. Maverick pride whipped into heart-pounding frenzy. All student, faculty, and staff groups are invited to participate in the parade! Prizes of $250 and $100 will be given to the first and second place entries in both the departmental and student organization categories. This year’s theme will be SUPERHEROES, Not All Mavericks Wear Capes!
