Dr. Robert F. McMahon, former Dean of the Honors College and Emeritus Professor of Biology, has generously endowed a scholarship to help Honors students defray the cost of participation in the College’s annual summer study abroad programs.
The scholarship is competitive and merit-based. Each summer, several awards of at least $500 and upwards of $1,000 are provided (the selection committee will determine the number of awards to be made in a given cycle).
Acceptance of a McMahon award obligates the recipient to submit a product soon after the program is completed which focuses on a topic determined before departing Arlington (in past years this has ben a digital audio slideshow or digital photo album). The nature and content of this deliverable is subject to change from summer to summer.
The application and supporting information are provided to eligible students approximately two months before the beginning of the summer study abroad program.
