COVID-19 HOUSING FAQs

  • Will UTA Housing be open for the Fall 2020 semester?  

    Yes. UTA Housing will be open for the Fall 2020 semester and will remain open regardless of method of instruction or adjustments to the academic calendar.  

  • Are there any changes to UTA Housing contracts because of the COVID-19 pandemic?  

    Students should expect changes to their campus housing, dining and academic experience given the current pandemic. University Housing developed contract addendums which include important resident information and changes due to COVID-19.

    Students in UTA Residence Halls are expected to comply with the Addendum to University Residence Hall Contract available HERE

    Students in UTA Apartments are expected to comply with the Addendum to Apartment Lease Agreements available HERE

    You should review your applicable addendum carefully to ensure you understand it completely. For questions about your contract or its associated addendum, please contact housing@uta.edu.

  • Will move-in be different this year due to COVID-19?  

    UTA Housing has modified its traditional move-in process to encourage enhanced social distancing.  Apartment move in  will take place on Aug. 21 at The Commons (Students at Heights of Pecan will move in on-site over the course of Aug. 21 through Aug. 22).  

    Our   Residence Hall move-in event  will take place from Saturday, Aug. 22 through Wednesday, Aug. 25.  

    Residents will be required to schedule a move-in appointment to limit the number of students moving in at the same time. Information on how to reserve a day and time for your move in will be sent to your University email the first week of August.    

  • If I need to quarantine or isolate due to COVID 19, will on-campus accommodations be available?

    Students living in UTA residence halls who may need to quarantine or isolate due to COVID 19 should review Section 2 of the Addendum to University Residence Hall Contract available HERE.

    Students living in UTA apartments who may need to quarantine or isolate due to COVID 19 should review Section 2 of the Addendum to Apartment Lease Agreements available HERE.

  • Do I have to wear a mask inside my apartment or residence hall room?  

    No, students do not have to wear a mask inside their apartment unit or residence hall room.

    However, face coverings are required outside of the resident’s assigned unit. This includes all common spaces including hallways, stairwells, elevators, lounges (social and study), community kitchens, community laundry rooms, mail centers, class/conference rooms, computer labs and other campus facilities.

  • Will social distancing policies be in effect in UTA Housing?

    In university residence halls, UTA Housing offers private-bedroom accommodations with one student per bedroom or shared-bedroom accommodations with a maximum of 2 students per bedroom. In this instance, roommates and suitemates are considered a “family unit” and exempt from social distancing rules within the assigned residential unit. However, students are expected to uphold social distancing guidelines in all common areas outside of their residence hall room or suite.

    In UTA Apartments, UTA Housing offers private-bedroom accommodations with one student per bedroom or shared-bedroom accommodations with a maximum of 2 students per bedroom. In this instance, roommates within an apartment are considered a “family unit” and exempt from social distancing rules within the assigned residential unit. However, students are expected to uphold social distancing guidelines in all common areas outside of their apartment unit

  • How will Campus Dining change as a result of COVID-19?  

    Dining services will implement important changes in response to COVID-19. A summary of these changes is available for review in Section 4 of the Addendum to University Residence Hall Contract available HERE.
