The core objectives are skills and abilities that the state of Texas and UTA believe all students should possess. Core objectives are often learned in classes but can also be learned in clubs, social organizations, projects, and extracurricular activity. We define and assess the core objectives as a way to measure how we are meeting the mission of the university and how we are creating an environment that fosters growth for these important skills. Core objectives include communication skills, critical thinking skills, empirical and quantitative skills, teamwork, social responsibility, and personal responsibility.
For more information on the core objectives and why the state of Texas values them, consider visiting the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) website.
