19th Annual Calculus Bowl Restructured and Updated
High school teams of up to five members competed in several rounds of multiple-choice pre-calculus and calculus questions displayed on a computer projection system. This year we had 26 teams, with over 130 students who participated in the event. Many fellow students and teachers attended to act as "cheering sections" for the teams.
The top three teams were awarded medals and trophies. All participants received Calculus Bowl T-shirts and gift bags. A Team Spirit contest was also rewarded to the team wearing the most creative outfits.
The Calculus Bowl was created to stimulate interest in mathematics among high school students through a fast-paced, energetic environment that promotes a focus on math. It also exposes students to the UTA campus with the hope of encouraging them to view UTA as a university they would like to attend in the near future. Most of all, the event helps connect us with area school districts and lets us meet and build rapport with teachers and students.More information can be found at https://www.uta.edu/math/events/calcbowl
