NSF grant

Kayunta Johnson-Winters, a UT Arlington assistant professor in chemistry and biochemistry, was awarded a $199,988 grant from the National Science Foundation’s Research Initiation Grant for Broadening Participation in Biology program, the Fort Worth Business Press reported. The program aims to propel more underrepresented minorities toward future federal funding for science research. She will study an essential enzyme found in Mycobacteria tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes tuberculosis.
