UT Arlington names police chief

The University of Texas at Arlington has tapped Kim Lemaux as its new campus police chief, The Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Business Pressreported. Lemaux has been a deputy police chief in Arlington since 2001. She will become the university’s first ever female police chief and also will be the only woman to hold the top police job in the 15-institution University of Texas System.

UT Arlington named Next Generation University

The University of Texas at Arlington is one of six universities nationwide to be named a "Next Generation University" in a new study published by the New America Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on public policy issues,Reuters, the Austin America-Statesman, theChicago Business JournalL.A. BizMarketWatchand several other websites reported. The list was created to highlight universities that are "models for national reform" and are "continuing their commitment to world class research while increasing enrollment and graduation rates, even as the investments from their states have declined," according to the Washington D.C.-based think tank.
