Research into employer programs that pay workers to lose weight

KRLD/1080 AM (CBS Radio, Dallas) interviewed Josh Price, UT Arlington assistant professor of economics and co-author on a study, which found that financial incentives can be a very effective tool in encouraging employees to lose weight at companies that offer their workers those types of programs. “It turns out that people respond to money,” Price said. “When designing these programs, you really want to design them in such a way that tries to reduce the unintended consequences.” KRDO/ABC 13 (Colorado Springs, Colo.) also reported on the study.

Research into groundwater near natural gas fracking sites

A study by The University of Texas at Arlington has added new evidence to the long list of findings suggesting that fracking for natural gas, also known as hydraulic fracturing, could be harmful to underground water, leading to contamination and potentially threatening public health and the environment, Processing magazine reported.
