Stadium cracks

KTVT/CBS 11 interviewed Simon Chao, a civil engineering associate professor at UT Arlington, about allegations that Allen ISD knew about cracks in its $60 million stadium but waited to fill them. Chao said not filling the cracks could lead to water leaking in and causing structural damage.

RNC chooses Cleveland

A Dallas Business Journal story about Dallas losing out to Cleveland as the site of the 2016 Republican National Convention featured Allan Saxe, UT Arlington associate professor of political science. “From a national standpoint, the Republican Party made the best decision,” he said.

Movin' Mavs player featured in Sun Sentinel story

Ricardo Lucien, a player on UT Arlington’s Movin’ Mavs wheelchair basketball team, was featured in a South Florida Sun Sentinel story about the Miami Heat Wheels, a recreational team. Lucien was the victim of a random shooting in his native Venezuela five years ago and got involved with the team while undergoing rehabilitation in Miami.

Schug authors post about search engines

Kevin Schug, UT Arlington associate professor of chemistry, authored a blog post for the website Chromatography Online about the usefulness of website search engines such as Google Scholar when seeking scientific literature.
