Concealed weapons on college campuses

KERA 90.1 FM talked to several UT Arlington students about the state Legislature's proposal to allow carry of concealed weapons on college campuses. One of the students said the proposal was absurd and made them feel less safe. Another said trained police should handle any volatile situation. But a third said she would carry to ensure her safety. The story also reported new UT System Chancellor William McRaven, a former Navy admiral, is urging lawmakers to not allow more guns on campus. He said his main mission now is to protect faculty, students, staff and clinicians.

Art on display

Rachel Bates, a UT Arlington art graduate, will be one of many artists displaying their wares at the 13th annual Empty Bowls Fort Worth event on Feb. 20, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. The event benefits the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
