WNBA announcement

The WNBA announced it would move its Tulsa Shock team to UT Arlington's College Park Center in 2016, The Dallas Morning News, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, WFAA Channel 8, KTVT CBS 11, D MagazineAssociated Press and many other media outlets reported. The move is pending University of Texas System Board of Regents review.

Music and technology

Dan Cavanagh, a jazz pianist and associate professor in the College of Liberal Arts, recently earned a UT Arlington grant to modify a pair of gloves with embedded electronic sensors that are designed to enhance and manipulate sounds of an instrument, Machines Like Us reported.

Educator recognition

Taryn Ozuna Allen, UT Arlington assistant professor of education, was one of four fellows chosen from across Texas to be a 2015 Greater Texas Foundation Faculty Fellow, the Dallas Business Journal reported. The program helps to build the research and teaching capacity of tenure-track faculty working in areas related to student success. Allen researches underrepresented student populations.

Architecture alum in the news

Tyler Murph's work "The Reading Room" was one of three winners in the 2015 Life of an Architect Playhouse Design Competition, the Life of an Architect website reported. Murph is a UT Arlington graduate and Dallas architect.
