SMART bandage

Weidong Zhou, UTA professor of electrical engineering, is principal investigator on a $100,000 grant from the Texas Medical Research Collaborative funding development of a sensing and therapeutic tool, known as the SMART bandage, reported. The SMART bandage will help healthcare workers better monitor and heal patients’ wounds.

Rabin legacy explored

The Conversation featured commentary by Brent Sasley, UTA associate professor professor of political science, examining the legacy of Yitzhak Rabin, the prime minister of Israel, 20 years after his assassination. Sasley argued that Rabin should be remembered for trying – for understanding that Israel needed to change.

“Moments and Vision,” a series of photographs by Tore Terrasi, assistant professor in the UTA Art + Art History department, is on display at East Tennessee State University, the Bristol Herald Courier reported.

Wrestling exhibit

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported on an exhibit at the UTA Central Library, which focuses on the “glory days” of pro-wrestling in North Texas. “Ringside: Memories of World Class Championship Wrestling,” features 34 black-and-white photos taken by Cirrus Bonneau at the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth during the 1980s.

UTA grad promoted

The Houston Chronicle, KLTV/ABC 7 (Tyler), WVUE/FOX 8 (New Orleans), WDAM/NBC 7 (Laurel, Miss.) and various other media outlets reported that Lauren Engineers & Constructors, Inc. has promoted alumnus Tom Modisett, who earned his a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UTA, to chief financial officer and secretary/treasurer.
