Helping business grow

Gov. Greg Abbott delivered the keynote address at the 16th annual U.S. India Chamber of Commerce reception, Business Standard reported. He said the state's mission is to connect people to opportunity to help business grow. Those values are shared in people like Dr. Vistasp Karbhari, president of The University of Texas at Arlington, Gov. Abbott said.

New appointment

Mike Berg was appointed vice president of sales for the Formica Corp, reported. Berg earned his bachelor of business administration degree in management and marketing from UTA.

Expert opinion

Deteriorating health in a Kenedy, Texas, family in the middle of the Eagle Ford Shale has WOAI News 4's Trouble Shooters investigating what's wrong. Kevin Schug, UTA associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry, said that multiple tests should have been done on the affected area to draw more conclusive findings.

Higher education importance

Suryakant Desai, a professor of accounting at Cedar Valley College, explained the importance of higher education in a KRLD 1080 interview. Desai, who earned his master's in accounting and business administration from UTA, said higher education opens a world of opportunities for graduates.
