Maverick Speaker

Former Congressman Ron Paul was interviewed by KERA 90.1 FM while at UTA for the Maverick Speakers Series earlier this week. “People are very scared and are willing to listen to people who have magical answers,” Paul said in the interview that aired this morning. “There is a lot of demagoguing going on."

Saxe on Democratic cebate

Allan Saxe, UTA associate professor of political science, discussed last night’s Democratic political debate on WREC 600 AM (Memphis, Tenn.) and on KRLD 1080 AM. “It was the best democratic debate yet,” Saxe said. “On domestic affairs, Bernie Sanders did very well, but on foreign affairs, Hillary Clinton ran circles around him, frankly.” 

Student engagement

UTA law students played an important role in the exoneration of Chris Scott, who was wrongfully sentenced to life for a murder he did not commit, Men’s Journal reported. The District Attorney asked a team of UTA law students to check Scott’s story against that of the real killer, Alonzo Hardy. 

UTA casting call

Casting for "Rumors," a short film for the Narrative Filmmaking class at UTA, was announced in Backstage’s open casting calls.  The film centers on Jessica, a popular yet lonely girl, whose love for her best friend causes her to use social media in an attempt to destroy his new girlfriend.

MAX service

The Arlington Voice reported on ridership on the Metro ArlingtonXpress (MAX) bus service, which was introduced in 2013 and has a stop at UTA.
