Career center gift

Texas Trust Credit Union has given $100,000 in support of UTA's Career Development Center, a 6,000 square-foot facility in University Center that will serve as a resource connecting students and alumni with professional opportunities, the Star-Telegram, the Daily Herald, Benzinga and other media reported. 

Flash-flood app

The National Science Foundation’s Science 360 website featured a video about a phone app that tracks flash flooding developed by UTA’s D.J. Seo, a civil engineering associate professor. The video also mentioned that Seo has deployed high-tech sensors in the Dallas area to better detect creek and stream flooding. Those sensors work with the Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere or CASA system. Seo’s story starts about the 4-minute mark.

UTA graduate honored

UTA alumna Lashanda Putman, a registered nurse in Atlanta, Ga. is to be displayed in the upcoming edition of the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, PR Buzz reported. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing degreee in 2014 at UTA.
