Mavericks who plan to come to campus to work or learn must follow a simple rule first.

Before reporting to campus each day, all faculty, staff and students must perform a daily health screening, which includes a daily temperature check and self-monitoring for the following COVID-19 symptoms:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

According to the back-to-campus training that is required of every employee and student, anyone experiencing any of those symptoms should not come to campus. In addition, employees who begin to feel sick at work should notify their supervisor and return home. Students who begin to feel ill while on campus should also return home.

The UTA mobile app provides a convenient, confidential tool to assist with conducting the daily self-assessment, or you can download the daily self-monitoring checklist for easy access.

“We can each do our part to keep one another safe and healthy,” UTA Interim President Teik C. Lim said. “We are in this together.”

Mavericks who have been in close contact with a person who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 or test positive themselves may not return to work or class until the end of a 14-day self-quarantine period from the last date of exposure. Anyone in this situation is required to complete the Close Contact or Personal Diagnosis (COVID-19) Form.

Students living on campus who test positive for COVID-19 will be advised to return to their permanent residence. If they do not have an alternate residence or cannot return home, isolation accommodations will be provided. Employees who test positive should consult their primary care provider and must be free of any symptoms potentially related to COVID-19 prior to returning to campus.

You may return to campus when all five of the following criteria are met:

  • At least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since recovery (resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications)
  • Improvement in symptoms (e.g. cough, shortness of breath)
  • At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared
  • You have obtained a note from a medical professional clearing you for return to work or class. The employee must submit the note to Human Resources Leave Management.
  • Employee only: Human Resources Leave Management notifies your Manager that you are cleared to return to work.
