Wind Ensemble concert scheduled

The University of Texas Arlington Wind Ensemble will present its first “Wind Ensemble and Friends Concert” of 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in Irons Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Building, 700 Greek Row Drive.

Opening the program is the latest work by Dallas-born composer Frank Ticheli. Vittorio Giannini’s Symphony No. 3, one of the first symphonies composed for band, is also on the program. The featured guest soloist is Martin Godoy, who will perform the “Fantasie for Flute and Winds” by Gabriele Fauré. Godoy is a junior music education major at UT Arlington, winner of the Susan Lichtenwalter Memorial Scholarship and a student of flute instructor Janis Grannell.
