ARLINGTON - The achievements of University of Texas at Arlington students and faculty will be celebrated during the President’s Convocation for Academic Excellence at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in Texas Hall, 701 W. Nedderman Drive.

The event will recognize students who have demonstrated academic excellence, as well as faculty award winners. Jim Wilkinson, chief of staff for U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, will be the guest speaker.

A UT Arlington alumnus, Wilkinson has been counsel to the nation’s top policymakers, including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and retired Gen. Tommy Franks (also a UT Arlington alumnus). Wilkinson was also a member of the team that helped arrange President Bush’s visit to ground zero after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the free event. Call the Office of the Provost at (817) 272-2103 for more information.
