The Shorthorn takes statewide honors

ARLINGTON - The Shorthorn, The University of Texas at Arlington’s student newspaper, has been named best daily college newspaper by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors (TAPME), a statewide organization of newspaper and media professionals.

This is The Shorthorn’s fifth consecutive year to win the award and sixth time in seven years.

The Shorthorn’s Web site,, also has been named best college newspaper Web site in its division by Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, the state’s largest college media organization. In all, Shorthorn staff members received 26 TIPA awards, including Best of Show.

“We’re extremely proud of what The Shorthorn staff does every day,” said Lloyd Goodman, UT Arlington director of student publications. “The staff works hard and think hard in order to produce the best possible paper each and every issue. That’s the goal. These prestigious awards are icing on the cake.”
