Annual day of service to focus on volunteer opportunities

ARLINGTON - Hundreds of University of Texas at Arlington students, administrators, faculty and staff will donate their time and energy on Saturday, April 12, for UT Arlington’s annual day of community service and outreach called “The Big Event.”

Held in association with the University of Texas System “United to Serve” campaign and the City of Arlington, volunteers will offer their services at multiple sites throughout Arlington.

“The Big Event” will take place from 8 a.m. until noon. A “Thank You Celebration Lunch” will be held directly after, from noon until 2 p.m. on the University Center Mall, 300 W. First St.

Volunteer opportunities include those with Arlington Parks and Recreation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington, Arlington Public Library, Mission Arlington, River Legacy Park and Meals on Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County. Volunteer opportunities at UT Arlington include a creek clean-up on campus, mulching of flower beds, and composting.
