UT Arlington names assistant vice president for media relations

ARLINGTON - Kristin Sullivan, Arlington newsroom manager and education editor for the Fort Worth Star Telegram, will join The University of Texas at Arlington Dec. 15 as assistant vice president for media relations.

Sullivan holds bachelor of arts degrees in political science and journalism from Southern Methodist University, where she edited the independent student newspaper, The Daily Campus. Sullivan is an 18-year Star-Telegram veteran and has served as an editor since 2000. She previously covered local government, politics and public safety.

She has served as president of the Fort Worth Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Association for Women Journalists. She is a graduate of Leadership Arlington.

"UT Arlington is at a pivotal point in its development, and Kristin will be a great addition to our staff," said Jerry Lewis, vice president for communications. "She is a respected journalist and communications professional."

Sullivan and her husband, Mitch Whitten, have two young sons and live in Fort Worth.
