Technology developed by Sahadat Hossain, a UTA civil engineering professor, was recognized as a potential way to prevent plastic and other trash from reaching oceans in an opinion column by Don C. Brunell for The Sequim Gazette and The Courier-Herald in Washington. Hossain developed a method for taking plastic from landfills to manufacture giant pins that can stabilize roadbeds from failing soil.
Healing glove milestone
The team at the UTA Research Institute behind the REHEAL Glove has successfully developed a manufacturing process for the technology, Orthopedic Design & Technology Magazine reported. Muthu Wijesundara, head of the Biomedical Technologies Division at UTARI, is the project leader.

Meiners originally proposed the “Penny for Sanity Tax,” or a 1-cent tax on every call made, in March in an op-ed piece for The Wall Street Journal.
The UTA Research Institute is making flexible soft robotic gloves that will aid in rehabilitating stroke patients through virtual reality gaming, Health & Medicine Business Daily reported. UTARI is partnering with Neuro Rehab VR and the University of North Texas Health Science Center on the project.
