Software safety
A research effort involving Jeff Lei, professor in the UTA Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has developed new tools that strengthen the safety tests software companies conduct on programs that control vehicles, power plants and other demanding technologies, Security Now and ISS Source reported. The research included collaborators from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Adobe Systems Inc. and Austria's SBA Research.
Economic driver
UTA is a vital part of the local economy that empowers the city of Arlington’s status as a popular Texas entertainment playground, Hotel News Resource reported.
Young artists
Aldo Fritz, executive director of the Arlington Museum of Art, said the museum hopes to connect more with UTA students by creating opportunities to help graduating artists pursue art as a career, the Dallas Observer reported in a piece about an upcoming AMA exhibit.
Recycling programs
Sahadat Hossain, civil engineering professor and director of the Solid Waste Institute for Sustainability at UTA, was featured in a story by The Texas Standard analyzing struggling recycling programs. Hossain said Texas is in a waste management crisis brought on by overconsumption.
