UTA startup
UTA startup SolGro is one of five companies to be selected to participate in the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator program, the Fort Worth Business Press reported. SolGro was developed in partnership with UTA and has created plastics that amplify sunlight into the wavelengths that are best for plant growth. The program is a $30 million technology incubator and platform funded by the Wells Fargo Foundation.
FW medical district study
UTA’s Institute of Urban Studies is studying the Fort Worth medical district’s needs and advantages, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in a story about the city’s Near Southside sector and the chances of making it a medical innovator hub.
UTA ranked
UTA was ranked No. 20 among the best universities offering online courses, the Houston Chronicle reported. The list is according to Guide to Online Schools, published by Washington-based SR Education Group.
Saxe profiled
KTVT CBS 11 profiled Allan Saxe, UTA associate professor of political science. Saxe retired recently after teaching for several decades at UTA.
Controlling anger
Catheleen Jordan, a professor in the School of Social Work at UTA, suggests that people should know their own signs of escalating anger and how to use deep breathing to regain control before their anger erupts, MSN.com reported in a story about how to control anger. Alumna appointed
Jacqueline Gill has been appointed president of Virginia’s Danville Community College, Diverse Issues in Higher Education reported. Gill earned her master’s degree from UTA.
Alumnus named director
Colliers International appointed Charles Yan as managing director of north China business, Mintiandi reported. Yan earned his EMBA from UTA.
