UTA School of Social Work
The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved $60 million for a new building for UTA’s School of Social Work, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. The College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s Smart Hospital also will call the new building home.
Landfill management
The International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) honored UTA environmental and civil engineering professor Sahadat Hossain for his outstanding contributions to the field and his continuous efforts to educate the next generation of waste management professionals, Scitech Europa reported. Another ISWA award went to UTA’s Solid Waste Institute for Sustainability, which Hossain operates, for five consecutive years of successfully delivering the message about how to manage landfills and make them more efficient.
UTeach revival
After the UTeach program at UTA ended in October, UTA’s College of Science revived the program, The Daily Texan reported. The program allows STEM majors to earn a secondary teaching certification in addition to their degree.
