Chemists honored
Three UTA chemists—Daniel Armstrong, Purnendu “Sandy” Dasgupta and Kevin Schug—were named to The Analytical Scientist’s 2019 Power List, placing them among the top 100 scientists in the world, Dallas Innovates reported.
Engineer helping ease flooding during natural disasters
UTA Civil Engineer Yu Zhang is determining how best to assess the costly economic and ecological impacts of natural disasters on industries and waterways around the Neches River basin in southeast Texas, Mirage News, U.S. Fed News and Targeted News Service reported. Zhang received grants from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration and the General Land Office for $482,529.
Study shows no link between violent video games, violence

The University of Texas at Arlington was listed as one of the U.S. universities with the highest admission rates for international students, Beijing, China’s Sohu.com reported. The UTA admission rate for international students in the fall of 2018 was 91%.
