President elected to academy
In recognition of his prolific research and innovative leadership, Vistasp Karbhari, president of The University of Texas at Arlington, has been elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, U.S. Fed News reported.
Voting sites contested
The Texas College Democrats has sued the Texas Secretary of State in the hopes of returning temporary polling places to college campuses, Newsweek reported. UTA’s temporary voting site was eliminated in 2019.
Professor highlighted
UTA’s Sherri McFarland, a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, was included in a special issue of Next Generation Therapeutics, StreetInsider.com reported. She recently presented research that highlighted a photodynamic therapy in a clinical trial against cancer.
Study looks at Canada’s indigenous people
Philip Baiden, UTA assistant professor in the School of Social Work, co-authored a study that determined a huge majority of indigenous people in Canada living off reservations had excellent mental health, MedIndia.net reported.
