Remembering Kalpana Chawla

It's been 17 years since UTA’s Kalpana Chawla, aerospace engineering alumna, took her second and last flight to space in Space Shuttle Columbia flight STS-107 before it disintegrated over Texas during its re-entry into Earth's atmosphere. Still, Chawla continues to inspire many young minds, especially girls, India TV News and India’s Daily Hunt reported.

Peak season for mountain cedar pollen

Cedar fever isn’t actually a fever, but is instead a severe allergic reaction to mountain cedar pollen, Mirage News reported. Andrew Hunt, UTA associate professor and associate chair of the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department, spoke about the why this time of year is considered peak season for mountain cedar, how Texans with allergies can battle it and how climate change affects pollen counts.

Texas real estate outlook

UTA’s Sriram Villupuram, director of the Ryan Reilly Center for Real Estate and Urban Growth in the College of Business, was featured on the real estate news site Point2Homes.com. Villupuram spoke about 2020 projections for the real estate market in Texas and weighed in on whether people should consider buying or renting homes in the largest cities in Texas.
