COVID-19 cases in Texas

Erin Carlson, UTA associate clinical professor and director of graduate public health programs in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, was featured on NPR’s The Takeaway. Carlson spoke about the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in Texas. The interview was broadcast nationwide through various local NPR affiliates, including KERA-FM in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Carlson also spoke to The Dallas Morning News and The Dallas Observer about whether people can safely visit local restaurants and the importance of practicing social distancing, wearing masks and sanitizing hands to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Fall repopulation

The UT System and UT Arlington have announced plans for students to return to their campuses this fall, KTVT CBS 11 reported. Students will have a choice between online, in-person or hybrid instruction.

Technology for course delivery

As UTA prepares for a blended approach to fall 2020 courses, student access to technology for online and hybrid courses is a top priority, Mirage News reported. To support moving its academic instruction to online platforms during the spring 2020 semester, UTA more than doubled the number of devices available for checkout by students in the library to nearly 500. This repository of resources remains available to students going into fall 2020.

Online courses for international students

UTA is making a number of academic programs available online for international students experiencing travel difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. Fed News reported. New and continuing students who have submitted their financial and immigration documents are eligible to take fall 2020 classes online from their home countries and transition to on-campus enrollment in Arlington for the spring 2021 term.
