New degree
UT Arlington will offer a new Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics beginning in January 2021, U.S. Fed News reported. The new degree plan will reside in UTA's College of Business. Radha Mahapatra, chair of the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, said "As businesses rely more and more on data to make crucial business decisions and drive business strategy, the demand for data science and analytics skill continues to rise."
De-icing bridges
Xinbao Yu, associate professor of civil engineering at UT Arlington, will test whether geothermal energy can make Texas bridges and overpasses safer during winter weather, Mirage News reported. The Texas Department of Transportation provided $100,000 for the project, which is another excellent example of how UTA faculty successfully collaborate with state agencies to provide solutions to infrastructure problems.
