Low interest rates

Sriram Villupuram, UTA associate professor of finance and real estate, appeared on NBC 5 to discuss how historic low interest rates are causing homeowners to apply for new loans. Villupuram advised that it's important for homeowners pay attention to the length of their new loans.

Election recap

Rebecca Deen, chair of UTA’s Political Science Department, appeared on CW 33 to recap various topics about Election Night 2020. She discussed trends in voter demographics, voter turnout and polling data.

COVID cases rise

As Dallas County's COVID-19 numbers begin to rise again, Erin Carlson, associate clinical professor in UTA’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation, told the Dallas Observer that everyone should remain vigilant with social distancing measures.

Texas Democrats

Two faculty from UT Arlington’s Political Science Department spoke with local news outlets about Texas Democratic party results after Election Day.

Professor Thomas Marshall told the Dallas Observer that while Democrats were motivated to hit the polls, turning out in record numbers and helping to smash the state’s early voting records, so were Republicans, which ultimately left those legislators in charge.

Associate Professor Brent Boyea spoke to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram about Tarrant County and the city of Arlington—saying the seats picked up in Arlington by Democrats indicate a shift in city and county voting habits.
