New head basketball coach
UT Arlington has promoted long-time assistant Greg Young as the men’s basketball head coach, CBS DFW and KXAN in Austin reported. After 12 seasons as an assistant, Greg Young has been named the new head coach, replacing Chris Ogden, who resigned last week to join Chris Beard’s new staff at the University of Texas.
On-demand, autonomous transportation
The city of Arlington, in partnership with The University of Texas at Arlington, Via and May Mobility, launched the Arlington RAPID pilot program, an on-demand ride-share service that utilizes self-driving vehicles, Route One Publishing reported. The program, funded by a grant from the Federal Transit Administration, will provide free transportation to UTA students.
A study from The University of Texas at Arlington was cited by Hometown Focus, saying that houses with high curb appeal sell for an average of 7% more than similar houses without inviting exteriors. The article noted that a pristine lawn can be the finishing touch to a landscape and add significant value to a home and weighed the pros and cons of starting from seed or installing sod.
