Commencement celebrations

The University of Texas at Arlington and 19 different high school districts have held commencement ceremonies all month long at Globe Life Field, NBC 5 reported. It marked the first time the ballpark’s history that it hosted college graduations.

Helping strays

A student organization at UT Arlington looks after more than 100 unowned cats that call UTA home, the Texas Standard reported. The Campus Cat Coalition cares for them, operating a feeding schedule and keeping an eye on their health. It also works to ensure the cats are spayed or neutered and vaccinated against rabies. Friendly cats are placed in foster homes, so they can be adopted.

Art gallery debut

UTA alumna John Miranda will have his work shown outside of UT Arlington for the first time at the Erin Cluley Gallery, D Magazine reported. The Erin Cluley Gallery has a goal of introducing artists to the commercial art gallery scene. It also was home to the work of another UTA art alum, Francisco Moreno, and his large-scale "Chapel", a wooden architectural structure walled with paintings in 2018.
