Name change

The University of Texas at Arlington's Office of Multicultural Affairs has changed its name to the Office of Cultural Engagement and Social Change to better reflect its goal of implementing best practices in fostering an inclusive, diverse and equitable campus community, U.S. Fed News reported.


Speeding up computing resources

Hong Jiang, chair and Wendell H. Nedderman Endowed Professor of the UTA Computer Science and Engineering Department, is using a $600,000 National Science Foundation grant to develop algorithms for microservice-based data center services that allow for quicker, more efficient use of data center computing resources, Targeted News Service and U.S. Fed News reported.


Pilot shortage
Erin Chernak, an industrial organizational psychology professor at UT Arlington, talked about pilot shortages, the Texas Standard reported. As summer travel ramped back up and exceeded pre-pandemic levels, the U.S. commercial aviation industry wasn’t ready to meet the demand with staffing, Chernak said.
