Texans turn to home school
Peggy Semingson, associate professor in the Department of Linguistics and TESOL, spoke to The Texas Tribune about how more Texans have turned to home schooling in recent years. Semingson said a number of factors have contributed to the trend, including the COVID-19 pandemic, child safety concerns and ideological dissent. Austin’s News Radio KLBJ included the story in an evening broadcast.
Litter cleanup
Students from UT Arlington participated in a neighborhood cleanup in Polytechnic Heights, the city of Fort Worth reported. In one morning, volunteers removed 13,810 pounds of litter from the area.
