Request Installation of Windows 7 on UTA Owned Computer

OIT personnel can install the Windows 7 operating system on UTA-owned computers that meet the following requirements:

System Requirements: OIT Required

  • Base OS: Windows
  • OS Version: n/a
  • Processor: Dual-core or higher
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • Hard Disk Total Size: 80 GB

If client hardware is anything other than a Dell Optipliex or Dell Latitude, client should contact your hardware vendor to ensure that there are Windows 7 drivers for your machine. Client also has to have all original cd's for their machine. If client is running any specialized software for mission critical UTA business, then you should talk to your software vendor to verify that the software is compatible with Windows 7 before you consider an upgrade or purchase of a new machine with Windows 7 installed.

Prior to the installation of Windows 7, the client will be responsible for backing up all important data from his/her current machine. The client should also make a list of all critical applications that are installed on the computer and locate any installation disks for non-standard software packages.
