UTA E-mail on iPhone and iPod

This page contains information on configuring an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch to work with UTA Faculty/Staff e-mail accounts.

iPhone and iPod Touch devices are not supported by UTA at this time. The information here is provided for your convenience only. iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS models will only support one Exchange e-mail account connection at a time. The iPhone 4 or newer supports multiple Exchange account connections.

  8. Choose what items to synchronize. Click the slider next to any item you would like to disable then tap Save

    Save Settings

  9. Now you can check your UTA Exchange e-mail on your phone by selecting the Mail icon from the Home Screen.

The iPhone or iPod touch will try to create a secure (SSL) connection to your Exchange server. If it cannot do this, it will try a non-SSL connection. To override the SSL setting, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account, tap Account Info, then toggle the Use SSL slider. After successfully making a connection to the Exchange server, you may be prompted to change your device passcode to match whatever policies may have been set on your server.

Choose which type(s) of data you would like to synchronize: Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. Note that by default, only 3 days' worth of e-mail is synchronized. To synchronize more, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account, and tap on Mail days to sync.

For users of iOS 3.0 and above, after configuring an Exchange ActiveSync account, you will be prompted to either keep your contact and calendar information by choosing "Keep On My iPhone" or remove them by choosing "Delete." Warning: choosing Delete will result in the permanent removal of your non-Exchange contacts and calendar appointments.
