Q: What is the New Maverick Graduate Student Orientation program?
A: The New Maverick Graduate Student Orientation program is an excellent opportunity for newly admitted graduate students to learn valuable information about UT Arlington services and academic programs. In addition to an introduction to the University, students will have the opportunity to network with other graduate students as well as current student leaders.
Q: Am I required to attend New Maverick Graduate Student Orientation?
A: No, all graduate students are not required to attend graduate students orientation; however some departments have their own graduate student orientations which may be required. Check with your advisor to find out when your departmental orientation is and if it required.
Q: Is there a fee for attending New Maverick Graduate Student Orientation?
A: No, the orientation is free of charge.
Q: When does New Maverick Graduate Student Orientation take place?
A: Information about New Maverick Graduate Orientation for students starting in fall 2019 will be available in late spring semester. Please check back soon.
Q: Is this orientation the same as my departmental orientation?
A: No, this orientation program is focused on providing you with a broad range of information that is applicable to all graduate students. This program focuses on connecting you with students across disciplines and get you fired up about attending the University of Texas at Arlington. Check with your advisor to find out when your departmental orientation is and if it is required.
Q: How long will the New Maverick Graduate Student Orientation program last?
A: New Maverick Graduate Student Orientation is a half-day event occuring in the afternoon. Following the orientation we invite you to attend the Graduate Student Picnic.
Q: Where do I go to register for the orientation?
A: This can be done through the Register for orientation page.
Q: Can I bring my family with me to New Maverick Orientation?
A: Parents and guests are welcomed to attend your orientation session with you. However, if you have a young child, the University does not have a location on campus for you to send your child while attending the orientation; therefore you may want to make arrangements prior to attending the orientation.
Q: When do I get my student ID card?
A: You can get your picture taken at Mav Express which is located in the University Center. Please remember to bring your driver’s license or another government-issued photo ID. Since the graduate student orientation takes place on a Saturday Mav Express will not be open, thus you may want to take care of getting your picture taken prior to attending the session.
