Changes for 2019-2020
Thursday, August 1, 2019
Several important changes are occurring this August.
- College Park Customer Validation
- F11, Resident Lot 38 & The Lofts Relocation
- Lot 36 Upgrade Pilot Program
COLLEGE PARK CUSTOMER VALIDATION
Starting August 15, 2019, participating Shops at College Park will begin validating customer's license plates for free two-hour parking. College Park has offered free two-hour parking for customers since opening in 2015, but validation or payment was not required. Abuse of this lot resulted in the parking lot oftentimes being full, but businesses were empty. To rectify this, PATS has worked closely with Shops and vendors to provide an innovated and convenient parking solution for this area.
To receive free parking, customers will park in the lower level of Park South or the Lot 39 retail lot, note their license plate, then visit a participating shop within 15 minutes of parking to be validated by an employee. Some shops will require a minimum purchase.
If customers need additional time past the two hours, or choose not to visit a shop at College Park, they may visit a pay station to pay for their parking time. Customers that do not validate or pay will receive a $40 citation.
RESIDENT LOT 38 AND THE LOFTS RELOCATION
Construction on the University Center Bluebonnet entrance is expected to start on 9/1/19. This construction will permanently close parts of W. 1st Street. During construction, parts of F11 will be unavailable.
Faculty/Staff permit holders will be relocated to Lot 38 behind the gate. F11 reserved permit holders will not be able to renew their current space, but alternative reserved parking will be offered in F12 pending availability. Parts of F12 may also be impacted by construction activities, but more information will be provided as details are confirmed.
Resident East permit holders will be relocated to the top floors of Park Central and Park South where capacity already exists. Additionally, Resident East permit holders can park in CPW, Lipscomb, KC North, KC South, and top floors of Park South and Central.
The Lofts permit holders will be condensed from the first three floors of Park Central to the 2nd and 3rd floors of Park Central where capacity is available. This will help streamline resident parking, event visitors, ad off-campus student ingress/egress. Additionally, this changes helps prepare the lower level of Park South for additional electric vehicle (EV) charging stations that are expected to be installed before December 2019.
Visitor Parking in the F11/F12 parking lots will be extremely limited once construction starts. As a result, visitor parking will not be offered in F11/F12 unless after 5 pm or weekends. Instead, all campus wayfinding signs are being updated to direct visitors to one of the three dedicated visitor parking garages- West Campus Garage (west side of campus), Maverick Garage (central campus), or Park South lower level (east side of campus). Department visitors and guests should be directed to these three parking areas where they can easily find and pay for parking, or have a department validate their parking session.
LOT 36 UPGRADE PERMIT
As campus enrollment continues to grow, Parking and Transportation is tasked with parking more and more vehicles with limited parking stalls. To reduce congestion in the interior parts of campus and maximize occupancy in less utilized lots, PATS has introduced an additional upgrade lot for students. This upgrade works like Lot 47 upgrade by limiting the number of customers that try to find parking in small, high-demand lots. Students can choose from two options for these upgrade permits-- All Day or Nights Only. The All-Day permit grants access at all times, but only in Lot 47 OR Lot 36 from 7AM-4PM. It is available in both lots after 4pm. The Nights-Only option gives access to BOTH Lot 47 and Lot 36 starting at 4pm, and all blue off-campus student lots at all times. These permits are limited and will sell out fast. Once sold out, a waitlist will be offered.
