Classical Studies

Classical Studies is an interdisciplinary program that exposes students to a variety of subjects taught by faculty from several different departments in the College of Liberal Arts. For more information, email the program director, Dr. Martin Gallagher.

Minor Options

Students may combine courses in various ways to comprise the following four minor options:

Option 1: Greek Language (20 hours, at least six of which must be 3000/4000 level). Required courses: LATN 1441, 1442, 2313, 2314, and two upper-level courses (GREK 4391, which may be repeated  for credit when its top changes).

Option 2: Latin Language (20 hours, at least six of which must be 3000/4000 level). Required courses: LATN 1441, 1442, 2313, 2314, and two upper-level courses LATN 4335 or LATN 4391, also repeatable for credit when its top changes).

Option 3: Classical Civilization (20 hours, at least six of which must be 3000/4000 level). Required courses: GREK 1441 and 1442, or  LATN 1441 and 1442. The remaining twelve hours may be satisfied by any combination of the courses listed at the courses accordion, provided that they include six hours at the 3000/4000 level.

Option 4: Greek Language (18 hours, at least six of which must be 3000/4000 level).This option may be satisfied using any combination of the courses listed below, provided that they include six hours at the 3000/4000 level.

The Classics Club

The UTA Classics Club was founded "to foster the study of classical antiquity, to raise awareness of the importance of Classical Studies, and to facilitate academic and social contacts among kindred spirits."
