What is Physics?

Physics is the study of matter and energy, and how they relate to each other, as well as how they affect each other over time and through space. Physics can also be described as the science which deals with physical quantities. In this regard, physics is widely considered to be the most basic and fundamental of all the sciences. Physics helps us to understand the laws and rules that govern the physical world.

Modern physics is a broad and highly developed subject. Physicists study objects ranging from the very small using quantum mechanics to the entire universe using general relativity. They conduct research into physical phenomena, develop theories on the basis of observations and experiments, and devise methods to apply physical laws and theories.
